Crystal Lake, Illinois settled in 1914 is located 50 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Also, in the southeastern region of McHenry county in northeastern Illinois. The town covers an area of 17 square miles and has a population of 41,533 est. The city was named after Crystal Lake, a 230 acre lake just 1 mile west of the downtown area.

- Crystal Lake Park District - runs all of the city's parks and yearly events which take place within them. The two major parks are Veterans Acres and Main Beach.
- Cardboard Cup Regatta - runs the last weekend of June on Main Beach. These boats are colorful, unforgettable and ONLY made of cardboard.
- (CABA) - Continental Amateur Baseball Association - has been going strong since 1992 by giving 15-year old players a chance for the World Series title and compete with kids in other countries.
- Taste of Crystal Lake - held on the first weekend of July. Famous for carnival rides, games, food, and live music. Then concludes with the Gala Festival, a big parade and fireworks.
